Trying Again

The last time I wrote a blog and I spoke about how our recycling committee at school was doing an amazing job doing their part for the environment. Unfortunately, when school restarted the city refused to pick up the recycling, thus placing us in the same position as we started at the beginning of last year. The city refused to pick it because it was inconvenient and not on their pick-up plan. All the heard work that we did last year was wasted. We are trying especially hard to restart the recyc… Continue

Slowly Going Green

It's been a long time since I've updated everyone on a project of mine, turning my school green.
Our "Green Committee" has managed to go from a small group of kids to a large group of passionate people. We were able to get recycling bins for plastic, metal and glass in every hallway of our school. Unfortunately we don't have enough money to get bins for our cafeteria, which is, of course, where we produce the most recycling. Green Wonders

I just read one of the most interesting articles in the February edition of the National Geographic magazine. The article was on a new (and amazing I might add) technology.

Revolution and Question

During third period, my entire high school and I(of course) watched Obama's inauguration. Now you may be thinking, "but your canadian!?", just because we're canadian doesn't mean we don't care. We care a lot! This is a moment that will go down in history! The 44th president... An African American president is the main point to which I am aiming at. In the 20's, 30's, 40's, and 50's African americans we treated as if they were a completely different species, that they needed to be separated from… Continue

High School Needs Help Becoming GREEN and CLEAN

My school is one of the many schools that do not do its part for the environment. Simple things such as recycling bins are only supposed to be used for paper. We use TONS of paper in our school and of course almost none of it is recycled paper. The lights we use in our school are nylon lights... (the long light bulbs which give off horrible lighting) and many of our windows, such as in our gym, are broken, so we're using more energy to warm up our school because we're wasting so much of it. The… Continue
