Some unsolicited advice I would give to moms with younger kids… Continue

Unfortunately, when school restarted the city refused to pick up the recycling, thus placing us in the same position as we started at the beginning of last year. Let me first say that I love, love, love Halloween, so I’m not trying to spoil the fun. But lead in face paint, toxic costumes, high-fructose corn syrup and mounds of trash can make Halloween not so sweet. With a few simple changes though, we can enjoy the holiday while protecting our kids’ health and our planet.
Here are some suggestions for a Halloween that’s not so frightening:
Forgo the face paint – The Environmental Working Group tested… Continue

What does our tree free, compostable packaging have to do with your healthy lifestyle?...EVERYTHING.
We knew this on a gut feeling level – but scientific proof and ‘the bottom line’ are often easier to track and convey in business conversations. Therefore, in the 3rd Quarter of 2009 we prioritized creating an internal Sustainability Scorecard with the help of a top consultant from the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management at UCSB.… Continue
